It’s an exciting time to be a Mystics fan!

If you’re like me, you tuned into this year’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament to cheer on your favorite teams – and hope your bracket wasn’t busted by a Cinderella. But the Tournament was also our chance to get one more look at some of the dynamic players set to join the WNBA.

Just 8 days removed from the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship game, players along with their families, friends, coaches and loved ones, gathered at The Shed in New York City for the 2025 WNBA Draft. Mystics’ Aaliyah Edwards was there too – cheering on her former UConn teammates just as they had cheered her on a year ago when she was drafted by the Mystics.

The anticipation of Mystics fans – at home and at the Draft – was palpable. With the number 3, 4 and 6th pick in the first round, together with the 23rd pick in the second round and the 31st pick in the third round, the night was set to be a historic one - and would help remake the roster and launch the new era of Mystics basketball being ushered in by new General Manager, Jamila Wideman and new Head Coach Sydney Johnson.

And the night did not disappoint!

As you now know, Mystics drafted Sonia Citron (Notre Dame), Kiki Iriafen (USC), Geogia Amoore (Kentucky), Lucy Olsen (Iowa) and Zaay Green (Alabama) -- an incredible group of talented women, each having made a mark in the collegiate game.

This month, join Inner Circle as we celebrate all things varsity and the Draft. Get to know Christy Winters Scott, the University of Maryland legend and now voice of the Mystics on Monumental Sports Network. Go behind the scenes at this year’s WNBA Draft, from the Orange Carpet to your first peak at our draftees on the media circuit. Join Aaliyah Edwards for a day in New York City and get to know the Pizza Queen who shares her story with Aaliyah. Find out some great local spots to catch women’s basketball in the DMV. And test your knowledge of Mystics draft history.

It’s been a thrilling start to the new era of Mystics basketball this season. From career milestones for veterans to sensational rookie performances, there have been so many reasons to cheer.  And cheer we have! Thank you for your tremendous support as our fans continue to make CareFirst Arena one of the best environments in the WNBA. Let’s Go Mystics!
