Our athletes are so much more than what you see on the court. They are designers, chefs, musicians, and builders. They are activists, advocates, leaders and rebels. They are daughters, sisters, wives and partners. They are trend-setters, influencers and fashion tastemakers. In short, they are phenomenal women who slay on and off the court.
Inner Circle is our invitation to you, our loyal fans, to explore the personalities and lives of our players off the court. To discover the depth and diversity of their interests, passions and inspirations. To look beyond the game stats to see a fuller picture of these extraordinary women.
In this inaugural issue, we’re spotlighting four of our athletes who traveled to Miami in January to participate in Unrivaled, the new 3-on-3 women’s basketball league. And while their exploits on the court have been incredible (Aaliyah Edwards in the 1-on-1 tournament was phenomenal!), it’s the things that light them up off the court that we wanted to showcase.
You’ll discover Slim’s passion for music, which started at an early age. You’ll hear what makes a perfect night out for Stef and how she discovered one of Miami’s hidden gems in Wynwood. You’ll join Stef, Aaliyah and Kira, for a night out on the town at one of Miami’s Michelin-starred restaurants. And you’ll follow them as they spent a day at an iconic 1950’s Rat Pack hideaway that just oozed retro-chic vibes.
Starting something new is exciting—as well as daunting. I’m enormously thankful to our incredible staff at the Mystics who embrace the ‘what if’, dream about what’s possible, and accept the challenge to continue to innovate and originate. For the late nights, long days, crazy travel, creative thinking, edits and more edits, and truckloads of patience – thank you! It’s an honor to be on this journey with you.
None of this would be possible without our athletes who have so generously given of their time to help us craft these stories and bring their personality to life in these photographs and articles. Thank you for trusting us to help tell these stories in a new way.
